You change the land in an area, allowing it to protect up\r\nto 10,000 square feet of earth (two hundred 5-foot squares or\r\none hundred 10-foot squares). Any effect that this spell can have\r\nmust originate from solid ground and must remain within the\r\naffected area.\r\n\r\nMaximilian\u2019s impassable terrain creates the following effects\r\nwithin the area.\r\n\r\n[b]Bushes.[\/b] Up to five instances of the overgrowth spell can\r\npersist within the area. However, this version of the spell is\r\ndifferent in that any creature that steps fully into one of the\r\novergrowth spells is teleported to another within the area,\r\nchosen by the caster upon the placement of each instance of the\r\novergrowth spell.\r\n\r\n[b]Dust.[\/b] The whole area is filled with swirling dust and dirt,\r\nreducing areas visibility to 20 feet, with any space beyond that\r\npoint being heavily obscured.\r\n\r\n[b]Roots.[\/b] The entire selected area becomes difficult terrain as\r\nroots or vines sit at awkward heights and thicknesses. If a\r\ncreature spends its turn not moving, it must succeed on a\r\nStrength saving throw or be grasped by the roots and become\r\nrestrained for the duration of the spell. A restrained creature can\r\nremake the saving throw at the start of each of its turns.\r\n\r\n[b]Walls.[\/b] You can create up to four instances of the wall of stone\r\nspell, placing panels or domes in accordance to the spell.\r\n\r\n[b]Other Spell Effects.[\/b] You can place your choice of one of the\r\nfollowing magical effects within the area. Any spell that does not\r\nhave a duration of instantaneous has its duration increased to\r\nthat of Maximilian\u2019s impassable terrain and is no longer\r\nconcentration if it was to begin with. Each spell can be placed\r\nwhere you choose as long as it remains wholly within the area.\r\n[ul][li]Place four places in which once per turn, an earth tremor\r\nspell triggers[\/li]\r\n[li]Place a 15-foot high pillar of stone that casts stone bolt on\r\nany creature that comes within 60 feet of the pillar[\/li]\r\n[li]Cast a move earth spell however you choose in the area. You\r\ncan move as much earth with this version of the move earth\r\nspell as if you spent the spells full 2-hour duration of the\r\nmove earth spell affecting areas of earth.[\/li]\r\n[li]Two stoneshatter spells appear at points you choose, and\r\ntrigger automatically if a creature moves within 10 feet of it.[\/li]\r\n[li]Three Maximilian\u2019s earthen grasp spells appear and try to\r\ngrab any creature that moves into its range instantly.[\/li][\/ul]\r\nThe spell becomes permanent by casting this spell on the same\r\narea every day for one year.\r\n","higherlevels":"","source":"The Archive of Esoteric Secrets","tabledata":"","tags":"Spell,Druid,Sorcerer,Wizard,8th Level","templateId":"19","blockId":"243991","isShared":"on"}
