Cloak of Crimson Bloods

Wondrous Item

Legendary Ritual of Crimson Devotion

Shadowed Invisibility:
While wearing the cloak, you can use a bonus action to become invisible while in dim light or darkness. This invisibility lasts until you attack, cast a spell, or are exposed to bright light. You can use this ability an unlimited number of times.
Bloodveil Resistance:
The cloak grants resistance to necrotic and psychic damage. Additionally, while wearing the cloak, you cannot be detected by divination magic unless the caster succeeds on a DC 20 Intelligence (Arcana) check.
Crimson Strikes:
When you attack a creature while invisible, you deal an additional 4d6 necrotic damage. The blood of the creature strikes the cloak, empowering it. If the creature dies within 1 minute, you regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt.
Vampiric Shadow:
As an action, you can command the cloak to create a shadowy, blood-red aura that surrounds you in a 15-foot radius for 1 minute. Creatures of your choice within the aura must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw at the start of their turn or take 3d10 necrotic damage and have their speed halved. You regain hit points equal to half the necrotic damage dealt. This ability can be used twice per long rest.
Aura of Dread:
While wearing the cloak, you radiate an aura of terror. Hostile creatures within 30 feet of you must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. Creatures immune to being frightened are unaffected.

Special Ability - Red Shroud of Annihilation

Once per long rest, you can activate the Cloak of Crimson Bloods to unleash its full power for 1 minute. During this time:
  • You become fully invisible, even in bright light, and cannot be detected by magical means.
  • When you attack a creature, your attack automatically hits if you are within melee range, dealing maximum damage plus 5d10 necrotic damage.
  • Any creature reduced to 0 hit points by your attacks is consumed by the cloak, leaving no remains and granting you temporary hit points equal to their maximum hit points.
When the effect ends, you must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, you suffer 6d10 necrotic damage as the cloak siphons your vitality to replenish its power.

Curses

Bloodlust’s Grip:
The cloak fuels a growing thirst for violence. Each dawn, you must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save:
  • You are compelled to kill a sentient creature within the next 24 hours. If you fail to do so, you take 6d10 psychic damage as the cloak lashes out at your mind.
  • Each failed save increases the cloak’s demand for blood, requiring additional sacrifices until the curse is lifted.

Mark of Balios:
The cloak leaves a faint, bloody mark on its wearer that only other devoted followers of Balios can see. This mark draws attention from cultists of the god, who may seek to test, challenge, or destroy the wearer to prove their worth.

The Cloak of Crimson Bloods is a macabre artifact, perpetually soaked in the blood of those sacrificed to Balios, the god of Murder and Sacrifice. The cloak shimmers with a dark crimson sheen, and droplets of blood occasionally drip from its edges, vanishing before they touch the ground. When worn, the cloak clings to its user like a second skin, granting them unparalleled stealth and sinister abilities that make them a perfect instrument of assassination and slaughter.
