Razor of Retribution

Weapon

Legendary Trial of Hatred

Critical Charge
Each time you roll a natural 1 or 20 on an attack roll with this weapon, you gain 1 charge. You can store a maximum of 3 charges at a time. Expend Charges:
  • 1 Charge: Turn your next attack into an automatic natural 20.
  • 1 Charge: Deal maximum damage on your next attack’s damage dice. Sap (Mastery Property)
When you hit a creature with the Razor of Retribution, that creature has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Revenge-Fueled Blade
Each time you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this weapon, the blade briefly flares with dark energy, granting you temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt.
Vengeful Strike
If you are struck by a melee attack, you may use your reaction to make an attack with the Razor of Retribution against the attacker. This attack has advantage and deals an additional 3d8 necrotic damage on a hit.

Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)

Fury of Retribution
The Razor of Retribution’s damage increases to 1d12 (versatile: 1d10). Critical Range increases to 19-20, and each critical hit now generates 2 charges instead of 1.
Aura of Vengeance
The wielder radiates an aura of bloodthirsty intent within a 30-foot radius. Hostile creatures that enter this area or start their turn within it must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become consumed with hatred, forcing them to attack the closest creature they can see (including allies) on their turn. Creatures that succeed on this saving throw are immune to this aura for 24 hours.
Shadows of Retribution
You gain the ability to cast Shadow of Moil (no concentration required) once per long rest. While under the effects of Shadow of Moil, your attacks with the Razor of Retribution deal an additional 2d10 necrotic damage.

Special Ability - Blade of Absolute Vengeance

Once per long rest, you can invoke the Blade of Absolute Vengeance, channeling the weapon’s full power. For 1 minute, you enter a state of perfect retribution.   Rage of Retribution: Your attacks with the Razor of Retribution deal an additional 3d10 necrotic damage. Lifedrain: Each successful attack siphons the target's life force, healing you for half the damage dealt. Wrathful Presence: Creatures within 10 feet of you that attack you take 2d10 psychic damage as they are gripped by visions of their own betrayals. Vengeful Assault: If a creature within 30 feet of you attacks an ally, you can use your reaction to teleport behind them and make a melee attack. Aftermath: When the effect ends, you must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or take 6d10 psychic damage as the blade exacts a toll on your soul. You are also paralyzed for 1 minute as your body and mind struggle to recover.

Curses

Hatred’s Corruption
While attuned to the Razor of Retribution, you feel an overwhelming compulsion to act on hatred and vengeance. Each time you take a long rest, you must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you are consumed by an irrational hatred for a perceived slight or wrong, real or imagined, and you must act on it at the first opportunity. If you fail this saving throw three times, the DC increases to 20. If you fail five times, the Razor binds itself to your soul, and it can no longer be unequipped or unattuned without the aid of divine intervention.
Unquenchable Wrath
The Razor feeds on hatred, making it harder to control yourself in moments of high stress. You have disadvantage on Insight and Persuasion checks. Creatures that have wronged you, whether real or imagined, can sense your hostility. This imposes disadvantage on Charisma (Deception) checks made against them.

The Razor of Retribution is a sleek, jagged longsword that radiates an aura of malice and vengeance. The blade glows with a shadowy purple hue, its surface etched with faint, glowing runes symbolizing betrayal and retribution. The hilt is wrapped in obsidian-black leather, while the guard takes the shape of two twisted, vengeful wings. Forged in the name of Revani, goddess of Revenge, Hatred, and Assassins, this weapon demands blood for blood. Each swing fuels the wielder's thirst for revenge, and the longer it is wielded, the harder it becomes to resist the sweet call of vengeance.
