(the chapter opens with Arthor and Tenebris sailing at night)
Arthor: so, where exactly are your glowy spirit rings taking us?
Tenebris: I don't know yet, but I was told to follow them
Arthor: who told you to follow them?
Tenebris: It's....a long story.
Arthor: you know what, forget I asked, I don't want to know. (silence for a bit) So whose Kane?
Tenebris: (eyes flash blue) what?
Arthor: Kane...you called me Kane in Renna. I was just wondering why you called me that?
Tenebris: He was my A.R.K. when I was in the legions, he was also a good friend of mine. He was a little bit older than you are now.
Arthor: A.R.K. ?
Tenebris: Apprentice Royal Knight.
Arthor: wait, if he was a royal knight apprentice, and he was being trained by you... you were a royal knight!?
Tenebris: something like that. but that was a long time ago. I still don't remember it clearly. ever since barrok its like the fog is getting clearer. but there's still so much I don't really know what's real and what's dreams.
Arthor: (to himself) Dreams?
Tenebris: anyway, a lots happened, I apologies for calling you that.
Arthor: no it's fine, I was just wondering. just one more question, where did you get that stuff on your arm.
Tenebris: like I said I cant remember a lot.
Arthor: you said it was a consequence of a bad decision, and that you have a history with the Kongur. what exactly happened?
Tenebris: I...cant (flashes of a man holding a black dagger and people laying lifeless on the ground surrounded by dark energy and a wall of fire)...there was a man...with a pitch black blade. that's all I can remember. or maybe that's all I want to remember.
Arthor: A pitch black blade. (to himself) could he mean...no there's no way he would still be alive given how old tenebris is.
Tenebris: anyway, why do you ask?
Arthor: I was just thinking about what Corvis said, but I know he was only trying to distract the judges with saying all that stuff about you.
Tenebris: he was right though, I don't know what happened to me at barrok. he was trying to take the power and then...then...I don't know, I woke up. but from what you've told me and what I've heard from sol and corvis it seems like nothing good.
Arthor: I wont try to argue about barrok.
Tenebris: good.
Arthor: but it is true if I fought with you guys whatever happened to you might not have...
Tenebris: ...(starring daggers at arthor)
Arthor: ...sorry.
Tenebris: no...it's true.
Arthor: I KNEW IT!
Tenebris: (stares at him again)
Arthor: I mean, what is true?
Tenebris: without you I don't know what would've happened. its clear to me, that I going to need your help. I feel like I've regained some of my Orku from barrok and Renna, but even with that, who knows what the future holds. I cant believe I'm saying this but... I think its about time you learned how to use orku.
Arthor: really? your going to teach me to use the magic stuff?
Tenebris: it's not magic but yes.
Arthor: yes! am I going to get to go invisible or create fire or control gravity!
Tenebris: no.
Arthor: oh...then what's the point?
Tenebris: the point is, it will let you fight back against people who can do those things. normally I would teach you how to fight and train your body first but you seem to have that down already, so I'll start with the basics. but we'll have to be on the mainland before I can start your training.
Arthor: why cant we do it here?
Tenebris: Orku comes from living organisms and is absorbed by the surrounding area. But water is a different story. even though their are many things living in the oceans that produce orku, water conducts it, not absorbs.
Arthor: what's the difference?
Tenebris: on land the energy is readily available, whereas on a boat you have to draw energy out from deep within the water. So it's more difficult to get the energy and you get less.
Arthor: so what your saying is, it's hard to use energy on a boat because theirs not as much than on land.
Tenebris: essentially.
Arthor: so how did sol and the dead stars use orku on a boat.
Tenebris: they used their personal orku. the unique orku they generate from within their bodies.
Arthor: so they only had so much orku they could use.
Tenebris: correct.
Arthor: so why cant you teach me to use that right now?
Tenebris: using your personal orku is dangerous. especial if you have cant control your emotions properly. which right now you cant.
Arthor: I CAN CONTROL MY EMOTIONS!
Tenebris: case in point.
Arthor: fine. we'll wait until we get to land.
Tenebris: (his rings start moving backwards pointing behind him) which might be sooner than you think (tenebris turns the ship around and starts heading to a port town called Joer. )
CHAPTER 41 NEXT STOP JOER
(the chapter opens with tenebris and arthor walking off the ship and the rings stop glowing)
Tenebris: looks like this is the place.
Arthor: As much as I trust your ghost rings to tell us where to go...I don't.
Tenebris: we'll there must be something here that we are supposed to find.
Arthor: do you think karri's here?
Tenebris: I don't know, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. (starts walking)
Arthor: yeah, cuse your glowing rings filled me with hope.
(they walk around town)
Tenebris: (holding his rings up which aren't glowing at all, everyone giving him weird looks as he walks around not paying attention)
Arthor: Tenebris, I don't think the rings are working.
Tenebris: no they will, I followed what they said. I just need to...(shakes them and holds them up) Find. Search. Guide. show me the path forward. (nothing)
Arthor: yeah, I don't think that's working.
Tenebris: I don't understand what im looking for, why would you lead us here, but not show us what were looking for?
Arthor: who is this "they" your talking to?
Tenebris: wait, wait I got something!
Arthor: what is it? you find something!?
Tenebris: wait...no, sorry. it was just some light reflecting from a streetlight.
Arthor: >:(
Tenebris: come on, I need you guys to help out a little longer. (looks at his rings) why aren't you saying anything! (shakes them) "Hough". You hungry?
Arthor: yeah.
Tenebris: alright, lets find somewhere to eat and stay for the night. excuse me, could you tell me where the inn is here? (he walks over to some townsfolk)
Arthor: this is ridicules. we're in some random town not even knowing why were here when we could be looking for karri. (he sees some people talking by an alleyway. and looks closer and sees a the mark of the Kongur on their arm as they go into a back alley) (his eyes flash Red). (he looks back at tenebris who is talking with someone from the town and he puts his hand on his dagger and starts to follow the people into the alleyway) (he walks into the dark alley and pulls out his dagger) (he sees two hooded figures with masks on talking) (he slips his mask on and his eyes glow bright and he goes to sneak up on them, but a rat runs from around his foot and knocks a can over alerting the 2 figures to Arthors presence who is now running full speed at them and goes to stab them but they dodge)
Tenebris: thank you. alright arthor lets get...(turns around)..where'd you go?
Kongur 1: what do you think our doing kid. (throws a punch and arthor sidesteps it and goes to slash his throat but the other steps in a blocks the blade with his own and sends arthor back into the wall as the other guy pulls out a knife too and they go to slash at arthor who barely avoids the attack but gets his arm cut and he kicks the one guy between the legs and makes him drop his weapon)
Kongur 2: AOHHHH you freaking little...(kicks him in the face sending him reeling a bit)
Kongur 1: (grabs arthor and throws him down causing him to drop his dagger and goes to stab him but arthor rolls and elbows the guy in the side of the head and tries to grab his knife but the other guy kicks it away and they both start kicking him) (suddenly a shadow covers both of them. )
Kongur 1: (looks back) now what (gets punched in the face sending him flying back into the alleyway.)
Kongur 2: what the?! you...(gets slammed into the wall next to him and cracks it)
Arthor: aghh. thanks (stands up and spits out some blood) but I had that.
Arthor: (grabs his dagger) wait! (turns around but he's gone) what? where did he?
Tenebris: Arthor, there you are, I turned my back for a minute and you were gone. what happened here? (looks at the blood on the ground and the cracked wall)
Arthor: (looks back down the alley at the two Kongur who have disappeared) there was a man, a really tall guy, did you see where he went?
Tenebris: no I was busy looking for you but it seems like I was too late. lets get you bandaged up. (they walk out of the alley and down the road)
Man: (looks down from the roof of the building acrost from the alley at the two. he leaves)
CHAPTER 42 STRANGER IN THE NIGHT
(the chapter opens with Arthor being bandaged up by tenebris)
Arthor: I said I'm fine.
Tenebris: if this is fine, I'd hate to see what you think bad is. what were you thinking going after those guys alone?
Arthor: I was thinking that they were up to something and somebody had to stop them.
Tenebris: fighting is not always the answer. actually most times it adds to the problem.
Arthor: they were Kongur what was I supposed to do?
Tenebris: that has nothing to do with the fact that instead of telling me you left and almost got yourself killed.
Arthor: if I waited for you they might have gotten away!
Tenebris: and!? it's not your job to fight anyone. especially if their Kongur, you cant control your emotions yet, you were at a severe disadvantage going into the fight, you have to think about these things before you act.
Arthor: I did think, they might be the ones who took karri and now they're gone. that could've been our only chance to find my brother!
Tenebris: we will find him. but you cant get yourself killed before we do. do you understand?
Arthor: tsk. yeah whatever.
Tenebris: (pulls the bandages tight)
Arthor: AHH, hey!
Tenebris: there. lets get something to eat.
(they sit down at the inns food court.)
Owner: what can I do for ya this early in the morning?
Tenebris: what kinda food you got here.
Owner: got some fresh eggs and the best bacon you'll ever have.
Tenebris: sounds great to me. (the owner goes into the back)
Tenebris: so you said their was a giant man who came and took out the Kongur?
Arthor: yeah, I had them on the ropes when this guy showed up and sent the one guy flying and the other guy into the wall.
Tenebris: must've been quite strong if he did that to the wall with another person.
Arthor: yeah and then he just vanished. I wanted to ask him what his name was but he left before I could.
Tenebris: was he a legionary?
Arthor: no, at least I don't think so, he didn't have any armor on or a badge.
(the owner comes out with their food)
Arthor: he seemed like a normal guy...if that's even the right words for someone like that.
Tenebris: your lucky someone like that lives in this town and saw what was happening.
Arthor: psh, I had the situation all under control.
Tenebris: (pokes the cut on his arm)
Arthor: Ahh, stop that!
Tenebris: clearly.
Owner: Couldn't help but overhear you talking about the giant.
Tenebris: the Giant?
Owner: yeah, the Giant of Joer, that's who you saw right, a Large man that mysteriously disappeared into the night?
Arthor: yeah that's exactly what happened, how'd you know?
Owner: I get stories like that here all the time. Someone needed help late in the night and a mysterious giant showed up, helped and then disappeared. The giant of Joer they call him. he said to live on the outskirts of town. I wouldn't go looking for him though. many people have tried to recruit him, or fight him, or do whatever mission their on. Legionaries, Pirates, Gangs, all get the same result. broken bones and shattered ego's.
Tenebris: hmm, maybe this is what we were sent here for?
Arthor: for the legendary giant that was just said to beat up anyone who tries to recruit him?
Tenebris: why else would they lead us here?
Arthor: well, seeing how theirs Kongur here, maybe we're supposed to find karri here.
Tenebris: good point. could be worth a try though.
Owner: Suit yourself, we have discounted prices on rooms for people injured by the giant.
Tenebris: thanks for the info, but I think we'll be out of here by tomorrow. by the way this is the best bacon I've ever had.
(they go back to their room)
Arthor: so what's the plan?
Tenebris: the plan is for you to get some sleep.
Arthor: but theirs Kongur and A legendary giant out there, we got to go find them.
Tenebris: We have been on the sea for the last day and a half, and your injured, you need to get some sleep.
Arthor: no im fine I...(yawns)m not even tired.
Tenebris: you can have the bed, im going to see if I can get any more information from the villagers. I'll be back. (goes to walk out the door.)
Arthor: tenebris wait! (tenebris closes the door)... (looks at his knife)
(tenebris walks out of the tavern at sunrise.)
Tenebris: the giant of Joer eh? is that what you guys are leading me too? (his rings light up for a moment) well then, time to see what this legends all about.
CHAPTER 43 THE LEGEND
(the chapter opens with Tenebris walking in out of town into the woods his eyes glowing)
Tenebris: hmm, Giant of Joer. It's interesting Jaeja has never heard of this guy. That sound right up his alley. oh well, I'll have to fill him in about the giant too. he'll probably say I dreaming again. To be fair, I could be dreaming right now. (stops) "Hough" im talking to myself in the middle of the woods outside some random village in Thae, how did I get here.
Giant: That's a great question.
Tenebris: (turns around and sees the giant holding a bag of firewood on his back and holding an axe. ) hello there.
Giant: general Kenobi?
Tenebris: what? no, my names tenebris.
Giant: hmm. you a legionary, or something right?
Tenebris: no, just a traveler looking for someone.
Giant: (walks past him) I suggest you go back to the village, whoever your looking for isn't going to be out here.
Tenebris: well, as it so happens the person I'm trying to find, has found me.
Giant: (his eyes start glowing red) Im not joining you or your boss, or whoever sent you. so leave before I make you.
Tenebris: I just wanted to thank you for saving that kid in the alleyway last night.
Giant: (he stops for a second and his eyes stop glowing) who says I did anything like that? (keeps moving)
Tenebris: (starts following him) Well for one, the kid you save, his name is Arthor, and he's the one who said you did.
Giant: and you believe a kids imagination?
Tenebris: and you believe I don't know you were the one he described?
Giant: "Hough" get to the point.
Tenebris: what's a man like you doing in all the way out here?
Giant: it's quiet out here and I like the quiet, which I haven't had today, so I'm telling you to leave, before you get hurt.
Tenebris: I assure you their is no need to get violent. I cant tell you why, but there is no coincidence our paths crossed (he puts down his bag and axe) I believe your the reason im here. Im offering you...
Giant: (eyes glow red and he throws a punch at tenebris who catches his hand with his bandaged arm and doesn't move, as the impact shakes the trees) what?
Tenebris: I wasn't finished, Im offering you... (the giant grabs his arm and tries to throw tenebris but he grabs his hand and takes it off his arm)
Giant: Agh...
Tenebris: if you let me finish I believe you will find the offer to be...
Giant: I don't want to join your stupid band or legion or crew, leave me alone! (his eyes and his body start glowing dark red and he takes his arm back and throws another punch even faster at tenebris whose eye's glow light blue and he appears behind the giant who stumbles from the force of the punch. )
Tenebris: if it really takes a fight to get through to you then so be it! (his eyes glow light blue and he punches the giant in the gut knocking the wind out of him, he stumbles back)
Giant: AGGH! (energy starts radiating off him. he steps forward and the ground cracks as he launches at tenebris with a flurry of attacks, but he dodges all of them and counters by sweeping his leg and grabbing his torso and throws him back into a tree)
Giant: (thinking) who is this guy? he stopped me like its nothing, even high ranked legionaries cant do that? is he a royal knight? (he gets up. he tries desperately to hit tenebris who keeps moving around the attacks and grabs his arm and throws him over his back and slams him into the ground)
Giant: (on the ground stops glowing) Aghh...who are you?
Tenebris: (standing over him) Hopefully a Friend. but my names Tenebris. (puts his hand out)
Giant: (grabs his hand and tenebris helps him up) Machi, don't know about friends yet.
Tenebris: acquaintances for now then. (shakes his hand)
(they walk back to his house in the middle of the woods and machi opens the door and sets his axe on the wall and sets the firewood next to his fireplace)
Machi: So are you a Royal knight or something?
Tenebris: no, im not apart of the legions don't worry. I actually am not part of anything, I was brought here by...unorthodox means to say the least.
Machi: hmm, what happened there. (points to his arm) cant imagine anyone doing that to your arm. you caught my punch like it was nothing. you barely used any biaani.
Tenebris: biaani? if im not mistaken that's what the giants called Orku isn't it?
Machi: yes...it is. how did you know that?
Tenebris: I believe you and I are more similar than you think.
Machi: you do not appear to be a descendant of the giants.
Tenebris: no, Im what they call Tempurian.
Machi: I've never heard of them.
Tenebris: my people like yours have been lost to time.
Machi: it seems like you may be right about our paths crossing. (thinks for a moment) tell me of this offer you have.
Tenebris: (smiles)
CHAPTER 44 THE GIANT OF JOER
Arthor: (wakes up) Tenebris still isn't back? how much information do you need. (and gets ready for the day. he grabs his dagger and puts his mask up and walks out) (he walks around the busy town at dusk, grabs an apple without the shopkeeper noticing and starts eating it) Tenebris! (cuts to him talking to multiple people)
Arthor: have you seen a taller man with white long hair?
Shopkeeper 1: not today
Shopkeeper 2: sorry I haven't
Villager: not now kid.
Arthor: (walking in the village around sundown) he's been out all day...there's no way he went to look for the giant by himself, what if he blacks out again, or worse what if...(flashes back to tenebris rampaging)...im sure he'll be back soon. (sees the same Kongur as he did earlier talking with a shopkeeper. they follow him back into a building. Arthor looks down at his dagger, but also sees his bandaged arm. He grips his dagger tightly and runs over to the shop and looks through a window at the three talking)
Shopkeeper: The giant will most likely be back tonight. he avoids the village during the day due to the amount of people looking for him.
Kongur 1: he got the drop on us last night.
Kongur 2: while some kid attacked us.
Shopkeeper: A kid? was he a legionary?
Kongur 1: no he didn't have an A.R.K. badge or anything relating to the military. He had a Kongur dagger though and did put up a fight
Kongur 2: we would've killed him right then and there if the giant didn't show up.
Shopkeeper: A Kongur dagger hmm. there has been a bounty out for two young deserters. they caught one and took him to Egran but the others still out there.
Arthor: karri (Eyes blaze dark green)
Kongur 1: Wait! (looks over at the window but arthor ducked out of sight before he saw him)
Shopkeeper: what?
Kongur 2: you felt that too?
Kongur 1: someone's listening. (he walks out of the building and looks around)
(Author's hiding behind some crates) (whispering to himself) stop it...get control of yourself. (he takes a deep breath and his eyes stop glowing)
Kongur 1: hmm. (goes back inside)
(Arthor runs back to right beneath the windowsill and listens)
Shopkeeper: even if you didn't see anything I rather not take the chance.
Kongur 2: we have backup coming in tonight. the giants coming with us whether he likes it or not. thanks for the information. (throws a small bag of coins on the table to the shopkeeper and they walk out. They nod at each other and walk separate ways)
Arthor: (thinking) grrh, where's tenebris when you need him. at least we now have an idea of where karri is. I'll go back to the inn and wait for him there. (he leaves from under the windowsill)
(it cuts to a black screen)
Karri: (wakes up thinking) aghh...where are we going? I don't know how long its been but I know its at least been a few days. I know Im on a boat, I can smell the ocean, and...beer? must be one of the dead stars ships, it smells like the stuff they took from gregor. if its the dead stars why haven't they killed me yet? what are they planning on doing with me? whatever they have planned, I know Arthor and tenebris will find me. (waits a few moments and the ship stops)
Male Voice from above deck: get the kid. (creaking as the door opens)
Karri: hello? hey what's happening, where are you taking me.
(Muffled from the bag on his head)
Female voice: I don't see what Raxis sees in you
Male voice: I don't understand it either. he hasn't even awakened a gift yet and he treats them like pure malmite.
Female: Even after deserting the Kongur he still talks about them all the time.
Familiar voice: enough yappin, lets go, we don't have all day.
Karri: Let me go! (tries to get way)
Male voice: stop struggling, your not going anywhere.
Karri: you don't know that, I've been told I'm very fast!
Female voice: I'm sure you are, but you cant run with you legs tied.
Karri: (thinking) man, they thought of everything.
Female voice 2: welcome back. I see The mission was a success, you brought back one of the prodigal sons.
(they take the bag off his head and karri opens his eyes and sees a very bright light in his face)
Karri: (thinking) prodigal sons? (he looks around and sees the two people who captured him on Gregor's ship, standing at attention behind him.)
The female voice steps from the shadows and its the same figure gregor saw in the shadows when karri was taken
Female voice 2: well done, you did your part perfectly, Corvis has been taken into custody of the Elvinian legions and you brought back the target just as you promised.
familiar voice: as if you had any doubt. (a familiar figure walks past karri and comes into view, his eyes widen)
Gregor: after all your talking to the greatest sailor on the seas.
