Rotspor
Tiny fungal fey with a mean streak, Rotspors are a curious type of creature that look like bulbous ink-secreting mushrooms. They shuffle through dark forests and damp caves with deceptive quietness until provoked. Known for their explosive temper, these fey emit piercing, high-pitched screams when threatened, a sound that has unsettled even the most seasoned adventurers.
Rotspor Ink. Rotspors secrete an inky substance, a viscous, tar-like liquid that reeks of rot. This vile secretion clings to flesh, accelerating decay and leaving the unlucky victim with festering wounds. Rotspors weaponize their ink through their bite but also by hurling it at predators and prey alike. Some poison recipes make use of Rotspor ink as a toxic ingredient that also makes the poison opaque and darker.
Small but Angry. Despite their diminutive size, Rotspors are vicious hunters. They primarily eat small insects and snails, but also stalk small birds and mammals, leaping out from underbrush or throwing a glob of poisonous ink at them from a distance. Their ferocity is not confined to small prey; when cornered, threatened, or starving, Rotspors will target creatures many times their size, swarming in groups to confuse, maim, and overwhelm their enemies.
