Blair
Blair looked at her husband as he dressed in the large room of the estate. “How has Cinders been for you my dear?” he asked her.
“It is a lovely world,” Blair replied. “As all the worlds of the Commonwealth have been so far.”
Oswald turned, and flashed Blair a smile. “There are many, but so are there many which are less than lovely, but I would hardly be a good husband if I were to take you to those aweful places.”
Blair smiled at her husband, and climbed from their bed, and began to dress. “Lord king,” she said as she covered her naked body with the loose, and light robe which did little to hide her nakedness.
“Yes my love?” King Oswald asked as he fixed his shirt.
“There is something I wish to tell you,” Blair told him, and looked away. “Something I wanted to tell you for some time now, but…” she stopped for a moment as she bit her lip.
Blair heard the foot steps of the king as he crossed the floor to her, and felt his hand as she raised her chin to him, and looked at him with a gentle, and smiling face. “What is it? You can tell me anything.”
Blair smiled at her husband, and than let out a sigh, and moved her hands to her stomach, and looked down. Oswald looked to her hands, and than back to her eyes.
“Do you mean?” Oswald asked.
Blair nodded, but said nothing as she bit her bottom lip.
The king gasped for a moment before Blair felt herself lifted in the air, and spun around. “A child,” he said before he kissed her. “Your pregnant? Surely? It has been confirmed?”
Blair nodded again. “Yes lord king, I’ve seen the doctor many every day since we have been on Cinders.”
The king’s eyes flashed, but he nodded. “I though perhaps you were just unwell, the reports only mentioned quick visits. Maybe a rash or…” he stopped, and smiled again. “A child,” he said again with a grin.
“I, well I wasn’t sure you wished to have more,” Blair said. “Young Oswald is less than two years old,” she said of his last child with his late wife.
King Oswald took her face in both hands. “I have ten children, and I love them all, and I will love…” he looked at Blair in her eyes. “The next ten,” he said with a grin. “Or one or four or however many we have. I thought we would have more time, but,” he flashed his smile again. “This is wonderful news.
“You will not wish to cancel the trip will you?” Blair asked concerned.
“Cancel?” Oswald asked confused, and than shook his head. “No, the ‘Royal Dragon’ has everything you need, and we will be back in Bastion long before you give birth. This is perfect. It may be some time before you can go on such a trip again, so we must enjoy it.”
Blair nodded. “Excellent, I so much wish to see your people, and Isca I understand is a lovely world.”
Oswald tilted his head for a moment, and his smile faded, but he nodded, and let out a sigh. “Yes, it is.” He looked away. “System-lord Frost as made Isca more peaceful than any lord in living memory, but the sector as a whole is one of the more dangerous…” he stopped, and turned back to her, and shook his head. “No need to worry about that. I would never risk your life, or mine.” He flashed his flash again. “You shall enjoy Isca, it is lovely.”
