Weapon
Legendary Blood of the Deceived
Pierce the Veil
Shadow’s Kiss ignores magical barriers, such as Mage Armor, Shield, and Protection from Evil and Good, as well as magical resistances and immunities (except those granted by divine sources).
When the wielder strikes a creature under magical protection, the AC bonus from these effects is ignored, and the wielder deals an additional 2d6 force damage.
Silence of Shadows
When a creature is struck by Shadow’s Kiss, they must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is silenced for 1 minute.
A silenced creature cannot speak, cast spells with verbal components, or produce any sound.
This effect can only be removed early by Remove Curse or Dispel Magic cast at 6th level or higher.
Shadowmeld
Once per long rest, the wielder may activate the Shadowmeld effect as a bonus action, cloaking themselves in magical invisibility for 10 minutes.
This invisibility works like Greater Invisibility, but with the following enhancements:
- The wielder leaves no tracks, scent, or traces of movement.
- The wielder is undetectable by Detect Magic, Scrying, or similar divination spells unless viewed by a deity or a creature with truesight.
Betrayer’s Strike
If the wielder attacks a creature that is unaware or surprised, the attack is made with advantage.
If this attack hits, it is automatically treated as a critical hit, and the psychic damage increases from 3d6 to 6d6.
Additionally, the target must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target is stunned until the end of the wielder’s next turn.
Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)
Whispers of Treachery
Shadow’s Kiss begins to whisper fragments of treachery into the wielder’s mind. The wielder gains proficiency in Deception, Insight, and Stealth (if they aren't proficient already).
The wielder also gains advantage on all Deception checks when attempting to persuade someone to act against their allies.
Phantom Strike
As a bonus action, you can command Shadow's Kiss to become an invisible phantom blade for up to 1 minute.
While in this state, the dagger floats in the air, allowing the wielder to make attacks using their bonus action. The phantom blade deals an additional 2d8 psychic damage on a hit.
This ability can be used once per short rest.
Agiin’s Favor
If the wielder successfully betrays a trusted ally (by causing harm or performing a treacherous act), they gain the ability to activate the following bonus effects for 1 minute:
- Critical Betrayal: Every attack against a surprised or unaware creature is treated as a critical hit.
- Shadow Jaunt: The wielder can teleport to any shadow within 60 feet as a bonus action.
Special Ability - Veil of Deception
Once per week, you can call upon the power of Agiin to mask your intentions.
- For 24 hours, the wielder benefits from the effects of Mind Blank (immunity to psychic damage, protection from divination spells, and immunity to mind-reading effects).
- While under this effect, all Insight checks made against you automatically fail.
- After the 24-hour period, the wielder must make a DC 20 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, they are compelled to betray a trusted ally or reveal a critical secret.
Curses
Whispering Shadows
Shadow's Kiss constantly whispers to the wielder, filling their mind with thoughts of betrayal.
Each dawn, the wielder must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save:
- The wielder becomes paranoid, believing their allies are conspiring against them.
- This paranoia lasts for 24 hours and imposes disadvantage on all Insight and Charisma checks involving allies.
Bane of Trust
The wielder is cursed to betray those closest to them.
Whenever the wielder has an opportunity to deceive, betray, or harm a trusted ally, they must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw.
On a failed save, they are compelled to act on the opportunity.
Marked by Agiin
If the wielder attempts to discard, destroy, or betray the interests of Agiin, they are immediately struck by divine retribution.
The wielder takes 8d10 psychic damage and is permanently marked with a Mark of Betrayal.
The mark is only visible to creatures tied to betrayal, such as agents of Agiin and creatures with divine insight.
This mark can only be removed via Divine Intervention or a Wish spell.
Forged from the essence of pure betrayal, Shadow's Kiss is a slender dagger with an edge so dark that it seems to devour all surrounding light. The blade flickers like liquid darkness, constantly shifting as though it exists halfway between reality and the shadow plane. Its hilt, wrapped in black leather, is adorned with the image of a serpent's head at the pommel — a clear symbol of Agiin, the god of Betrayal, Deception, and Traitors. The dagger's whispers of deceit echo in the wielder's mind, offering them glimpses of treacherous possibilities.
This weapon was not simply forged, but born from betrayal itself. It has been wielded by spies, assassins, and those who sought to claim power through lies. Its hunger for deceit and treachery is insatiable, and those who wield it risk becoming the very thing they despise most.
