Legendary Rite of Silent Passage

Silence of the Grave

  While wearing the Mantle of the Quiet Step, the wearer produces no sound from movement.   This includes:  

• Footsteps

• Armor movement

• Weapon draws

• Climbing or landing

  Creatures relying on hearing automatically fail Perception checks to detect the wearer’s movement.  

Perfect Predator

  The wearer gains:  

• Advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks

• Advantage on attack rolls against surprised creatures

  When the wearer hits a surprised creature, the attack deals an additional 3d6 necrotic damage.  

Veil of Unseen Passage

  The wearer leaves no physical trace behind them.   This includes:  

• Footprints

• Scent trails

• Disturbed dust or foliage

  Tracking the wearer requires a DC 20 Survival check.  

Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)

Step Between Heartbeats

  While in dim light or darkness, the wearer can cast Misty Step at will.   If the wearer teleports this way immediately before making an attack, the attack is made with advantage.  

Assassin’s Patience

  While the wearer remains motionless for 1 minute, they become nearly impossible to detect.   Creatures must succeed on a DC 20 Perception check to notice them, even if looking directly at them.  

Hunter of the Weary

  The wearer can sense creatures suffering exhaustion or sleep within 60 feet.   Such creatures appear faintly outlined to the wearer.  

Special Power

The Silent Hunt

  Once per week, the wearer may invoke Muera’s divine blessing.   For 1 minute, the wearer gains:  

• Greater Invisibility

• Movement does not provoke opportunity attacks

• Attacks against surprised creatures become automatic critical hits

  Creatures killed during this time make no sound and leave no visible wounds.   When the effect ends, the wearer must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion.

Muera’s Discipline

  If the wearer causes panic, loud combat, or witnesses during an assassination, the armor suppresses its magical properties for 24 hours.   Muera demands precision and silence.

The Mantle of the Quiet Step is a set of lightweight assassin’s armor crafted from overlapping plates of darkened leather and shadow-tempered metal. A long midnight cloak drapes from its shoulders, lined with deep crimson silk embroidered with the inverted drop of blood—the sacred symbol of Muera.

Despite its protective strength, the armor feels impossibly light when worn. Its surfaces absorb sound rather than producing it, and the wearer’s movements become eerily silent. Even in the midst of a crowded room, the bearer can move like a drifting shadow.

The armor was forged for Muera’s most devoted assassins—those entrusted with delivering the Quiet Death. Those who wear it become living instruments of stillness, striking without warning and vanishing before their victims even realize death has arrived.
