Wondrous Item
Legendary Ritual of the Blighted Veil
Brewer of Death
The Virulent Chalice can transform any liquid poured into it into a poison or disease-laden substance. As an action, you choose one of the following two effects:
Virulent Poison: A creature that ingests, inhales, or is exposed to this poison must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 8d10 poison damage and is poisoned for 1 hour. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and is not poisoned. This poison can be applied to weapons, objects, or consumables and remains potent for 24 hours.
Contagious Disease: The liquid becomes an infectious disease that spreads to those who come into contact with it (through ingestion, inhalation, or touch). A creature that comes into contact with the disease must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes infected with the disease and suffers the following effects:
- Disadvantage on all attack rolls and saving throws.
- Takes 4d10 necrotic damage at the start of every hour.
- The infection spreads to any creature that spends more than 1 minute within 5 feet of the infected creature.
This disease can only be cured by magic of 7th level or higher, such as Greater Restoration or Heal.
Aura of Decay
The chalice emits a constant 10-foot aura of sickness around its wielder. Hostile creatures within this aura have disadvantage on Constitution saving throws and take 2d6 poison damage at the start of their turn. The aura can be suppressed or reactivated as a bonus action.
Catalyst of Plague
Once per day, you can use the chalice to create an irresistible plague or poison. For the next 10 minutes, any poison or disease brewed using the chalice becomes impossible to resist, and creatures affected automatically fail their saving throws. This ability can be used to infect an entire food or water supply, ensuring that any creature who consumes it is afflicted.
Plaguebringer's Wrath
Once per long rest, you can unleash the Plaguebringer’s Wrath, releasing a 60-foot-radius sphere of pestilence centered on you. All creatures in the area must make a DC 22 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, creatures take 8d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned, the creature's movement speed is halved and it cannot regain hit points. On a successful save, creatures take half damage and are not poisoned. All plants and animals within the radius instantly wither and die, leaving the area barren and lifeless for 1 year.

Curses
Corrupted Heart
The chalice seeps into the soul of its wielder, corrupting them from within. At dawn each day, the wielder must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the following effects occur:
The wielder's alignment shifts one step toward Chaotic Evil.
The wielder develops a physical manifestation of decay (discolored veins, sores, jaundiced eyes, or rotting flesh).
The wielder suffers disadvantage on all Charisma-based ability checks with non-hostile creatures.
Insatiable Thirst
The chalice demands to be used. If 24 hours pass without the wielder brewing a poison or disease, they suffer visions of pestilence and decay. The wielder takes 6d10 psychic damage and is plagued by waking nightmares. This damage cannot be avoided or reduced by any means.
Whispers of Vihbus
The chalice constantly whispers to its wielder in the voice of Vihbus, the god of disease. The whispers compel the wielder to spread disease and corruption. Each dawn, the wielder must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the wielder is compelled to create and release a poison or disease using the chalice before the next dawn. If they fail three consecutive saves, they develop an incurable obsession with plagues.
The Virulent Chalice is a grotesque vessel of tarnished silver and bone, its surface crawling with veins of greenish-black ichor that pulse like a living being. The rim is jagged with uneven edges that seem eager to bite, while the base is adorned with disturbing carvings of plague-ridden victims writhing in agony. A faint, acrid mist constantly rises from the chalice, filling the air with the stench of decay and rot. It is said to be a gift from Vihbus, the god of pestilence and disease, granting its wielder unparalleled mastery over poison, plague, and contagion.
While it offers unmatched control over disease and poison, it also places a terrible curse on its wielder, slowly warping their mind, body, and spirit into a harbinger of pestilence. The chalice constantly calls to its master, demanding to be used in acts of destruction and corruption.
