2024 Annual Review

The Year of Relics

General Summary

Hey hello! Welcome to the 2024 review of The Sea of Starlight, and Bonus Action. It's been a great year, but also a year of change and a lot of hard work. Creating a ton of items, including the massive Extraordinary Ammunitions bundle that featured multitudes of unique ammunition as well as Planar Steel ammunition which I'll still be uploading in the coming weeks here on Sea of Starlight. I'm looking back on a successful year, but looking forward to changing things up now that I've completed my goal of 1000+ unique magic items.

Missions/Quests Completed

Completion. Halfway through the year I came to the realization that artistically, I'm no longer gaining anything from creating magic items. I make sets of 52 items and decided I would want to create a total of 20 sets. Which meant I still had to illustrate 150 unique items from July-December. A couple weeks ago I completed the last item (Zodiax - Tapestry of Starlight). Now that this massive project is finished, I plan on publishing all items in a physical book, and also starting some new artistic projects within this campaign setting and content for DnD in general.   Adventures. I started a new game in early 2024 and in the summer a second. Both set in this world. One in Azuno, and one in Novarheim. The second being a West Marches type of campaign, with a big group of players dropping in and out. It's been fun creating new places, people and quests. These will definitely inspire me to create and worldbuild more things!   Knowledge. I'm happy to report that my plan to read and learn more this year has become reality. I read a ton of books and watched tutorials, even joined a portrait/life drawing class to improve my sketching skills. I will definitely continue this practice in the next year and hope to continue this trajectory of improvement!   Goals for 2024 Here are a few goals for 2025 in no particular order.
  • Research and take steps towards publishing a physical book of magic items
  • Read more books about illustration, design, and creative writing
  • Read more (fantasy) novels (recommendations welcome)
  • Illustrate and create more diverse content (creatures, portraits, people, maps, etc)
  • Stream on twitch!
  • Notes

As always, I'd like to thank my patrons, supporters, subscribers, customers and followers for joining me on this worldbuilding, item creating, illustrating and writing journey. It is thanks to you that I can continue doing this! If you are not yet a patron, consider supporting me at https://www.patreon.com/bonusaction
