Burmo

The Burmo is a marsupial that makes its home in the cold and rough mountains and tundras of Esca. These ground dwelling creatures are about the size of a young bear cub, and they live in packs of up to 25 individual animals. Burmos have a talent for finding sustenance in harsh climates where not many things can thrive or grow, and have a diet that consists of plants and insects. Burmos sleep for up to 12 hours per day and they hibernate during the winter in their large burrows. They go into hibernation a few weeks after the winter has started and they emerge a couple of days before the beginning of spring.   Fluffy Camouflage. Burmos have a thick and fluffy fur to protect them against the rough elements in their habitat. The coloration of this fur is slightly different from one subspecies to another, which helps them blend into their respective landscapes. The burmos of the Thelian Mountains for example, take on a slightly more umber tint, whereas in the tundras of Esca, they are characterized by their light gray fur and brown belly. Burmos have several predators in the wild such as wolves and birds of prey from which they will try to hide. Smaller predators such as foxes may find themselves surrounded by a pack of angered burmos attempting to scare it off by scratching it with their sharp claws which they normally use for digging their burrows.   Fuzzy Friend. In some cultures the burmo is hunted, but burmos are extremely friendly as well as curious to a fault. Because of these traits and their soft fur, they make excellent pets for the people who live near, or in their habitat. They are easily persuaded with a tasty flower they are unable to reach themselves, or with some other type of treat. Burmos will pack bond with other species just as easily as their own, but they should not be locked up or held inside a small enclosure as they like to roam free and engage with their own species from time to time. A domesticated burmo will always return to their individual keeper before nightfall, sometimes bearing little gifts, such as nuts or shiny rocks they found while foraging for food.
