Illikan Thuliaga
Illikan Thuliaga was a Half-Giant man from the Thelian Mountains. He was part of the group of heroes known as Semper Solari and he is considered to have been the central figure that brought about the defeat of the The Red Queen and The Blood in 6738 AV.
Having grown up within the secluded confines of a Thelian tribe, Illikan remained relatively shielded from the wider world. The rugged terrain demanded constant self-improvement and physical fitness for survival, but other than that his early life was rather isolated from the rest of the world. When his father was 34, he boldly challenged and defeated the chieftain, ascending to lead the tribe. His father's strength, agility, and passion for growth served as a lifelong inspiration. However, a year after becoming chieftain, his father faced a challenge himself and was defeated. The family was cast out of the tribe, and saught refuge in the southern mountain ranges of the Thelian Mountains. There, they encountered Druids of the Azure Moon.
Despite the initial strangeness, they integrated well, and became a part of this circle of druids. Over time, the elders of the circle realized that Illikan had an impressive physical strength and great connection to the natural energies of the world. They taught him the basics of natural and druidic magics and by the age of 20, he mastered the art of shapeshifting into a giant goat, and a was able to cast a few simple spells. Embracing this newfound path, he continued his druidic path by apprenticing under the dwarf Wranvalur Frostpeak, one of the tribe's elders that had become a close friend of his over the years. His path to become a druid was meant to take flight after a rite of passage that led him into the Plane of Light called: The Rite of the Wellspring. However, the ritual took a disastrous turn, leaving the elder trapped in the realm of the fey, while Illikan himself returned to the material plane.
He was abducted and confined within a cave, where he was to be subjected to some form of necromantic magic. It was revealed later that these acts were orchestrated by Eldrisa Dur'mel, the twin sister of Ilyana Dur'mel. It was in this cave where Illikan first met with the Half-Orc Kavu Bisonhorn, the Human Erin Nelwin, the Gnome Flin Brett and the Halfling Mallum Vatis, who were also abducted during their travels in Wolfsbrunn. The group managed to break free and escape the cave, but were not able not catch their captor at that point in time. Illikan and the others decided that they would find that person, and bring them to justice, which is how Semper Solari was founded. This eventually led the group to discover a threat that was far greater than what they could have imagined concerning the cult of The Blood and their efforts to bring back the Blood Queen from her banishment.
Illikan became increasingly powerful over time and used various forms of druidic magic in combat. Most notably invoking spirits of wolves and eagles to aid him in battle, and shapeshifting into a powerful earth elemental to smash his foes. Towards the final confrontation with The Blood and The Red Queen, Illikan attuned with the Mor, which gave him even greater power and has left a spark of divinity in him even after Semper Solari defeated The Red Queen and he separated from the Mor. Even though he was fierce in battle, Illikan had a kind heart and great respect for living beings. These traits earned him the admiration and friendship of many people across Wolfsbrunn as well as his beloved pet bat named Robin.
Historians have theorized that Illikans close contact with both the Heart of the Wilderness and his attunement with the Mor caused his rapid increase in skill of druidic magic. However, Illikan was also fortunate to meet many wise and powerful individuals such as Ilyana Dur'mel, Aemaris Frostward and Duke Stolz of Rornach during his travels with Semper Solari. This allowed him to learn far more of the world and develop his own potential much further than he would ever have been able to in the secluded Thelian Mountains. Despite his heroic actions, Illikan was also inadvertently a catalyst in the plans of The Blood when he was stabbed in the back by the banished druid Lilium during the ritual to restore the Astris Tree in the Blackvald and was unable to stabilize and complete the ritual. After the insertion of a blood crystal, the tree became unstable and corrupted which led to disastrous Dimensional Fracturing across the kingdom of Wolfsbrunn. The corrupted tree became instrumental for The Blood to reach the the Blood Queen on the plane of Exileus.Early in life won several contests of a traditional Thelian game which earned him the nickname 'Rootsmasher'.
Tied himself to a balista aboard the ship 'The Twins' for unknown reasons during an encounter with hostile Merfolk in the Antler.
Died in a fight with a white dragon in Entari, was brought back to life by Ilyana and Eldrisa Dur'mel and went on to kill the white dragon with together with the other members of Semper Solari.
Came into posession of the Heart of the Wilderness, but only ever used it to close a Dimensional Fracture near Altenport with the help of Ilyana Dur'mel and Eldrisa Dur'mel.
Aided in the liberation of Hartloch during The Hell of Hartloch for which he earned the Platinum Heart.
Aided in the ritual to restore the Astris Tree in the Blackvald using the Heart of the Wilderness which ultimately failed and was a pivotal moment which led to the Night without Stars.
Was able to unlock the power of the Mor and merge with it, granting him divine arcane powers and protection during the events leading up to the defeat of Varoda and the Night without Stars.
Defeated Varoda together with Semper Solari in the winter of 6738 AV.
Used the Mor to restore the Infernal Crown of The Black Rose, who in return transported the world from Exileus back to the material plane.
Was able to restore the Astris Trees in both the Blackvald and Azuno using the remnants of the astral magic the Mor had left in him together with Varic Trafina, aided by Rosanna Syl Fenling and the Blackvald druids.
Rescued and brought back Wranvalur Frostpeak to the material plane by traveling to the Plane of Light and locating him with the aid of Rosanna Syl Fenling.
Early Life
As a Half-Giant, Illikan's body bore various marks and patterns that according to the Thelian beliefs predicted his future. His face and bald head were adorned with sharp and pointed markings that predicted his fierceness as a warrior and his keen eyes. His feet and calves told tales of traversing distant lands, while his upper arms symbolized fierce battles against formidable opponents. The thick dark bands on his forearms symbolized his unwavering commitment to protecting allies, and his hands, left and right, depicted the dualities of life and death respectively. The markings on his chest signified his close connection with nature, and the markings on his back symbolized the weight of difficult decisions and questions of justice. Apart from these prophetic markings, it is thought that Illikan was also the subject of the The Mountain's Man prophecy.Having grown up within the secluded confines of a Thelian tribe, Illikan remained relatively shielded from the wider world. Semper Solari
Having not enough skills to save his elder and perhaps ashamed of the the event, Illikan set out to gather knowledge and wisdom that might help him in this quest to return his elder to the material plane. He decided to travel to Wolfsbrunn but soon after he crossed the border into the Kingdom of Wolfsbrunn, he became part of something much larger. He was abducted and confined within a cave, where he was to be subjected to some form of necromantic magic.
