Newport Lighthouse
Perched upon a rocky islet close to Newport, stands its lighthouse. Accessible only by a narrow bridge or by braving the cold waters to climb the rocky base. Crafted from black stone that perhaps once shimmered like polished obsidian, the tower now bears the rugged marks of time, its surface roughened, transforming it into more of a ruin than a beacon. The dark silhouette, like a crooked, twisted finger, jutting out from the earth, forms a stark contrast against the often grey skies of Vjørsgard.
Repurposed Ruin
This structure was not always lighthouse but the ancient ruin was repurposed to guide mariners safely to shore. Its design is peculiar, with numerous oddly shaped rooms scattered across different levels. A spiraling staircase, snakes its way up the tower, occasionally jutting outside before reentering the structure. This design allows for breathtaking views but also exposes the climber to the whims of the coastal weather. The same staircase plunges into the depths of the earth but at ground level, the entrance to these lower depths has been sealed, however the reasons for this have been lost to time. Since the founding of Novarheim, the tower has been used as a lighthouse. At the pinnacle a magical flame was conjured, which now dances tirelessly, burning without any fuel. This ethereal flame, akin to the mystical fire found in the heart of Novarheim’s Flamecircle Plaza, is cradled by an array of metal mirrors. The polished surfaces of which catch and bend the light, casting it far out to sea, a guiding star for ships navigating the treacherous waters at night.
