  Your arms are wreathed in bands of arcane symbols as you point to a creature you can see within range. You attempt to pull brightly colored fragments of life energy out of the creature. The creature has to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save they take 5d6 Necrotic damage. You then gain a number of temporary hit points equal to half the damage the target has taken. If the damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, you gain an amount of temporary hit points equal to the total amount of damage the target has taken. This spell has no effect on Constructs.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each spell level above 4th.
