Maroon Mango Tree

The maroon mango tree is a type of tree native to the southern parts of Azuno it is valued for its rare and tasty fruits which possess healing properties and can be used for the creation of powerful elixirs in Alchemy.   The maroon mango tree is a rather tall and slender tree with elegant, curling branches. The leaves have a soft orange underside, and a dark red topside. As the name suggests, the fruit of the maroon mango tree has a similar color which can range from a deep red to a slightly purplish red tone. The tree has a very long growth cycle and the fruits grow only once every 3-10 years, which makes farming maroon mangos a time consuming process. The Maroon Mango is slightly rounder and larger than regular mangos. The smooth and shiny skin is rather thin, and the fruit itself is very sweet when ripe, but can taste tart if harvested too early.   The maroon mango tree thrives in areas that are warm and sunny and have a mineral rich soil. It is believed that maroon mango trees feed on arcane energies and because of that are only able to grow fruit in places where the tree has access to these energies. Although it is hard to cultivate maroon mangos due to their long growth cycle, they prosper when cared for by providing them with a balanced diet of clean water, fertilizer and nutrients. Pruning branches that do not bear fruit is also a method of ensuring that the energy of the tree is put towards the branches that are able to grow mangos instead of growing into a larger tree.
