Spellspinner

Spellspinner is the name given to people who create the material known as Spellthread. These craftspeople need to have deep knowledge of the materials and methods to create a specific thread in order to provide enchanters the right materials for their tasks.

Thriving Threadmakers

Like most textile based professions, spellspinners need to have a thorough understanding of the materials they work with to reach the desired end product. Wool, cotton, bamboo and flax are all common base materials. Secondary materials which can be spun into the thread will influence the potency of the thread when used in an enchantment. This can be anything from dyes, oils and alchemical compounds to precious metals and the dust of gemstones. Specific materials and combinations are referred to as a formula, and some lend themselves better for certain enchantments than others. Because of this, balancing the formula for a thread is very important to produce a high quality product.

Wheel of Fortune

Spelspinners often start out their craft on a simple spinning wheel, but these can be quite fickle to reach a satisfying result. More experienced spinners are therefore known to have collected many different shapes and sizes of this tool to spin all sorts of materials and may use wheels imbued with magic or wheels made of a specific material to create certain spellthreads. Spelspinners will often have a workshop much similar to alchemists, with various tools and ingredients neatly organized and properly labeled.   Spellthread is a material that is invaluable for the art of transcendental weaving as well as spell stitching, so it is in high demand by enchanters practicing those types of enchanting. Spellspinners will usually have a selection of threads for sale, but more specific threadformulas are made by the request of an enchanter. On top of the demand, it simply takes a lot of knowledge, time and effort to prepare a proper spellthread. Experienced spellspinners can make quite a sizable fortune through their craft because of this. However, the earnings of most spinners are often spent on new and outlandish materials or tools through which they can improve their skills and expand their arsenal of thread formulas.
