Lirael's Lake

In the south of M'Oviri is a serene valley where Lirael's Lake lies. The tranquil and clear waters of this lake are inhabited by a great number of fish, frogs and other small amphibians. It is a particular safe place within the dangerous jungle of Azuno. The lake was named after Lirael, a local spirit deity of good fortune who according to tales could talk to the frogs through lily flowers.
In the light of the midday sun, the lake is strikingly blue and bright. The blue is filled with the green and multitude of colors from the various species of lotus flower and waterlily fields growing within it and in the nutrient rich soil on the banks and around the lake, a number of edible and non-edible plants grow throughout the year. Many small animals and fish thrive in this ecosystem, but large predators are far less common here for some reason with the exception of a few predatory birds and a number of large water dwelling snakes. Some speculate that some form of wild abjuration magic has taken hold on the lake which wards of these creatures, but no detectable wards or strong protective magic has ever been detected in the area. Others say that the waters of the lake itself hold some sort of property that causes diseases in animals and creatures, but for humanoids and the animals living in this area, the water has always been potable.   There is a small community of people that lives around and on the lake, and they all live relative solitary lives with respect to the harmony and balance of the environment. They are careful not to upset the balance or allow wild magic or other forces to influence or destroy the beauty of the lake and its surroundings. Most have built small huts and houses on the banks of the lake, but a few have created cozy floating dwellings upon the lake itself. The most wonderful and beautiful of which is the Drifting Lotus teahouse.
