The Perversion of Order

34 0 1

As if the discovery of the trespasser wasn't enough, soon after the barrier around the universe was created a new calamity would gnaw its way into the universe. Up until this point, the universe was quite orderly, compact, and things persisted in the same state for their entire existence... However upon its twisted entry into the universe, a new being rose up to ruin everything the interlopers had created.

Within picoseconds of entry, this invader from outside of even the interlopers' knowledge spread its vile roots throughout the young universe; twisting and perverting anything that it came across. Words lost meaning and power over time, appearances became subjective- changing from observer to observer- and inconsistent, and even the fundamental laws of the universe were warped beyond recognition! Electrons could be anywhere, everywhere, and nowhere all at once! Atoms could have multiple states until an observer measured it! Light was both a particle and a wave, but behaved differently based on observation! Objects across the universe would influence each other despite no forces acting between them! The interlopers spent countless aeons searching for this invader in hopes of banishing them and undoing the damage to their precious universe; but could not find the being despite their attempts.

The perverted efforts of this trespasser slowed progress on the universe's continued expansion and progression to the point where the interlopers had to re-learn much of how matter now worked here without resorting to forcing it to function with sheer will-power. The being's influence of the universe also took its toll on the barrier keeping the unthinkably-large being out. This weakening of the barrier was just enough for the entity to infest the minds of the Arcanists to teach them how to create and wield the ultimate weapon of annihilation: Black holes.

Upon their minds being corrupted by the being beyond the barrier, the Arcanists would begin to utilize black holes for their own purposed. They were aware of their danger and of their destructive capabilities; but the power that came from them was enough to stabilize galaxies enough to minimize the will-power needed to keep a galaxy in shape. The only issue was that if left unchecked, a black hole could easily consume far more than it was intended to, leading to the erasure of an entire galaxy. Still, however, this was seen as 'worth the risk' by the Arcanists. The interlopers tried their best to correct their actions and close any of these black holes; but they simply couldn't keep up... They had to do something about the state of things and fast.

Cosmic scale comes through with striking force, turning creation itself into a battleground between will, entropy, and something far older. The interlopers and Aracnists feel mythic yet vulnerable, giving the universe's birth a sense of awe and looming tragedy. The introduction of the devouring entity and the chaotic invader adds real menace, reshaping the cosmos in ways both grand and unsettling. Black holes as corrupted tools of creation tie the whole arc together with a powerful blend of wonder and dread.
