Drifting Lotus

The Drifting Lotus is a teahouse that floats on Lirael's Lake in the south of M'Oriri. Built in a traditional Yariscan style, this beautiful floating establishment rests upon a sturdy bamboo raft that gently traverses the lake. Treating its guests to a blend of tasty teas, the scenic beauty of the lake, and the occassional fortunetelling.

Haven of Harmony

As you step inside, you're enveloped in a space of tranquility. The interior is based off traditional Yariscan design elements with the bulk of the structure being made of bamboo, carved with intricate patterns and designs of leaves and flowers. A few ornaments and features such as the windowsills, doors as well as the furnishings are painted in vibrant pigments that give the teahouse it's distinct atmosphere. The various shades of pink, orange and green make the space feel warm and inviting while remaining harmonious with the colors and shades found in the environment of the lake. The layered rugs, low round tables and soft plush cushions invite you to sit down and relax. While drinking tea here, you are able to enjoy the view of the lake and its surroundings out of the large windows while listening to the sounds of the lapping water, chirping birds and croaking frogs. Your nose is filled with a blend of scents that come from the many flowers and herbs that are grown in the many pots and planters of various sizes found throughout the teahouse.

Flowers and Herbs

The Drifting Lotus has a wonderful selection of fresh herbal and floral teas with soothing and restorative properties. Each of the ingredients are locally sourced by Mayazi, the elven woman who built the vessel and calls it her home. These unique blends, coupled with the Mayazi's extensive knowledge and skill in brewing, make each cup a journey in itself. However, before brewing just any cup of tea, Mayazi will often assess a person's personality and character and prepare a blend specifically suited to that person. Mayazi is more than just a tea connoisseur, she is a storyteller and a guardian of her family's traditions. She inherited her passion for tea from her great grandmother who once was a renowned herbalist. This heritage shines through in her detailed knowledge of plants and the meticulous care she takes in preparing the teas.

Festivities and Fortunes

The teahouse is not only a retreat for tea enthusiasts and travelers but has also become a meeting place for the people living on and around the lake. On special occassions and typically during full moon evenings, the teahouse transforms into a festive and magical space where patrons can enjoy the light of the moon and stars dancing on the lake's surface, chatting calmly with other members of the community while sipping their tea. These gatherings are accompanied by soft music and tea readings by candlelight. These tea readings are done by Mayazi, and are not a party trick or novelty, they are a thoughtful process of Divination, where Mayazi interprets the patterns left by tea leaves at the bottom of a person's cup, offering insights and guidance to her patrons. Her gentle demeanor and insightful nature make these sessions often resonate deeply with those who seek her counsel.
