Bleeding Grasslands

The Bleeding Grasslands is the name given to a savannah in the southern point of Awaoka in West Azuno that consists of vast fields of Redgrass.   As far as the eye can see, the Bleeding Grasslands are a sea of pale yellows and deep crimsons. The foliage sways gently in the wind, creating an illusion of a land ablaze with fire. The sight is most striking at sunrise and sunset, when the sun's rays touch the grass, which appears to set the entire landscape alight with an infernal glow. After a storm or strong wind, patches of the grassland appear soaked in blood, lending a haunting beauty to the scene.   The bleeding grasslands' appearance has given rise to the area's name and legends, these stories are passed down through the generations amongst the Awaoki who live near and within the savannah. It is said by some that the land was once a site of an ancient battle between two gods, and their spilled blood gave the grass its unique color and properties. Another legend tells of a love between two celestials so profound that the earth itself blushed in their honor and their departure from the material plane now causes the earth to bleed in sorrow.
