Pride arrives on the outskirts of town along side Sin, a pale skinned woman with shoulder length black hair and glowing blue eyes, and Wrath, a dark skinned woman with red hair and glowing red eyes, to see the town on fire with Rena's vile laughter echoing on the winds. Sin says "Stop for a second. Feel that?" The other stop. Wrath glares "Ya. Something in the town is overflowing with mana. Almost like a knight does after drinking that elixir, just more intense and wild." Pride asks "this might sound dumb but do you think it can be Rena? Boss said the elixir she got a hold of made her way bigger than normal." Wrath says "Can't be. I have never known a shikibane of any type to be able to cast magic that wasn't a ghost but they were always bound to where they died and Rena's body was in one piece." Sin reveals "Greed can. She, like Rena, was not a normal human when she died." Wrath scoffs "Oh just fucking great, as if her being double the size of a normal amazonian knight wasn't bad enough." Sin says "You two go distract her. I'm going to sneak around find Lu or save her if was found." The three nod and go to execute the plan. 

Rena says "This little town looks so much better in flames" She hears a voice yell "well if it isn't the spoiled brat Millia tossed." Rena turns to the voice to see Pride and Wrath. She growls "How do you undead mites know about that?" Pride notes "Dam. She really is the source of all that mana." Wrath adds "she also has Lu." Rena unleashes a spell with a stomp tearing up the ground before her! Pride and wrath jump out of the way just in time! Wrath exclaims "Not only did she ignore the words for that spell..." Rena stops again as the building wrath jumped unto begins to sink! Wrath jumps off the building and continues "...she's not even doing the right movements" Rena grins "That's right mite. It's because I'm superior to you little nuisances" Rena raises her leg once more when Sin drops in kneeling before Rena. She says "Please wait oh might Rena." Rena pauses her attack placing her lg back down. Sin continues "We don't stand a chance against one as might as you." Rena smirks "True. It has cost me barely anything toying with your little friends. It's honestly a bit easy." Sin says "Mighty Rena. May I propose a game then?" Rena says "Well. I'm intrigued. I was afraid the fun would end soon. So what are we playing for?" Sin says "If you lose we get Lu and you allow us mites to leave in peace. If you win we become your devoted worshippers." Rena grins more "Your making me sound like a god. I like it. Alright." She sets Lu down who promptly runs behind Sin. Rena says "The game is wave assault. If you prevent Lu's recapture by the time the sun rises you win" Pride asks "Uh sin. I'm not sure about this" Wrath says "I hate it to but sin is right." Sin bows her head "Thank you Might Rena for allowing us this chance" Rena says "Oh you better keep talking like that after I win. Megai! Provide the waves." Megai appears in a swirl of crimson fog. "As you wish Lady Rena." More fog appears and enter the ground. Lu asks "What is happening?" Rena sneers "Oh that's right. I never did tell you where the bodies of the graves I emptied went did I?" Lu gasps "no..." Sin unsheathes her sword and pride his spear. Wrath readies her fists and says "So we protect Lu till the sun rises from a bunch of husks?" Pride says "it would seem so. Hard but doable." The three shikibanes surround Lu." Rena says "You must stand your ground during each wave. You may attempt to find a better position between waves. The sky will appear red when a waves starts" Rena snaps her fingers and the sky turns red with a shimmer. Lu looks up "she can turn the sky red?" Wrath says "simple illusion. Don't worry about it. Just stay between us!" the dead buried in the town burst from the ground!.

To Lu it feels like hours pass. Sin slices, Pride skewers, and Wrath smashes zombies back into the ground. The sky turns normal as Rena says "Ten minutes. Not bad." Lu screams "What!?!" Sin shouts "Wrath! Carry her! We need to find a better spot!" They take off as Rena casually follows them. The sky turns red again as more zombies rise. Fog enters a few of them twisting them into new shapes. These altered zombies move much faster. Sin cuts the first one down "So that's how she's increasing the difficulty" Pride skewers and flings a second zombie. "It's official. I hate her devil pet too!" For wave after wave this continues. The shikibane barely keeping the zombies at bay. The sky turns red once more. Rena grins "Final wave. Let's see if you can dodge me on top of the..." She sees the light from the shikibane's eyes fade. "Sunrise already?" She break the illusion to see the dawn. She ponders "I kind of want to smash them anyway..." The zombies collapse and fog fades as Megai states "We don't have the time my lady" Rena says "oh ya. My alterations...fine" She looks down on Lu and the others "looks like you win. Enjoy your freedom Lu while it lasts" Lu curls up in a ball and cries. Pride heads over to comfort her. Lu cries "I'm so scared. No where is safe" Pride sits by her "You know sits by her "you know. I was scared to." "...Really?" "Ya. I mean until sin's ploy it was all Wrath and I could do to dodge. Not the first time I was scared either. In fact there was a time I was as terrified as you." Lu seems to be calming "...can you tell me?" "I was alone when I came back. I wondered alone aimlessly terrified that each night would be the night I lost my mind. Right at the end the boss reached out a helping hand. A perfect stranger. She knew nothing about me or the things I might have done. Yet she saved me from that fate." Lu asks "Would you help me?" Pride smirks "If I can sure." Lu smiles "thank you."

Wrath asks Sin "How did you know she would let us go?" Sin bluntly states "I didn't. Honestly I was just buying time for Haiku and the others to catch up. We couldn't beat her ourselves so I was hoping to beat her with raw numbers. Them just leaving was blind luck on our part. Come on. We need to get Lu away from here." They all leave the town of Palemare behind.
