It had been little over a year since Rena's Trial. The nation had largely moved on from it. Not too surprising Countess Coldreach supposed. The people only heard it through papers and criers. Some of the other nobles attitude being so dismissive however is what truly irked her. Especially that arrogant bastard Warstrike. At least others like Goldleaf continue to look into other possiable devil involvement. She was on her way to look into a matter herself. Thanks to her conversations with Tanaroch she has learned that if Megai is involved than even the slightest detail being off could mean her involvement. Her last update from the Deepmines ended with his name having the dots in his I's leaning the opposite way. She looked out her carriage to watch the snow covered landscape roll by as fast as the driver could push the horses. She really hoped she was wrong, but if something is wrong she can only hope it isn't to late.
Rena sat in her cell glaring at Megai. Rena asks nearly growling "Care to explain why I have been in this place surrounded by these peasants for the last year?" Megai bows "Forgive me Lady Rena. I was merely following your desires. You always wanted power, more than any mortal has ever had before correct?" Rena raises an eyebrow saying "True. But how does this equate to that?" Megai says "It is playing with another devil's plan for now but it will eventully grant you power beyound your dreams Lady Rena." She proceeds to pull out a vial of holy elixir. Rena grins.
Megai says "I must tell you this will lead to your death, but in death you shall bring a nation to heel. Just rampage in this mortal prison to set the next events in motion." Rena takes teh vial "I suppose you have never auctully lied to me before...very well. I will make sure to enjoy it." Rena drinks the potion as Megai dissapears in a swirl of crimson fog. The empty vial shatters on the ground as Rena doubles over! Through gritted teeth she growls "I hurt so much...but I can endure it!" She begins to swell larger and larger.
Rena was cramped in her cell. No matter. She reached over and was surprised at how easy it was for her to push out the wall. After crawling out of the cell another prisoner yells "Hey Rena! How about you bust the rest of us out?" Rena looks at her arm in awe "Marvelous! It was like ripping paper, I also grew way more than I expected." A sinister grin creeps onto her face as she looks down at the cell the prisoner was yelling from. He didn't even reach her knee! She points her palm at him saying "I wonder how much it improved my magic. Luckily there appears to be plenty of mites around to test on." Fire erupts out of her hand melting the stone and metal turning the man to ash. Rena began laughing "So much power!" she turned towards her blocks recreation area. So many targets.
The guards and prisoners looked to the wing containing Rena as a loud thud reverberated from there as if something big hit the wall. Another thud is heard as cracks begin to form on the wall. The guards began clearing the yard of their charges, however they found exists sealed off by powerful magic. The cracking wall burst out into the yard. Prison guards steel themselves as the giant Rena steps through the dust cloud laughing "Even a wall that thick can't stop me!" She looks down at the guards and sneers "well well. Some armored mites to try and stop me? Not even a challenge." She points a finger at them "Die" lighting shoots from her finger and fries two guards. She laughs even louder as she forms balls of fir around her. She smirks "You all are nothing to me!" The mines shake under her assault.
Countess Coldreach enter the mines to see the guards and knights in a scramble. The local knight captain, a darker skinned fellow salutes "Countess Rachel!" Coldreach states "Report Knight Captain! What is happening here?" "Magic seal appeared all over the mines. Every route that leads to block C is sealed." Coldreach curses "Damit! That is where Rena is. Any luck breaking the seals?" The knight captain leads on "No countess. Our dispelling magic doesn't work and so far brute forces isn't either." As they arrive the mines quake violently. When the ground settles the seals fade seemingly on their own. Coldreach looks at the knight captain and says in earnest "Move!" They rush to block C to see several sections had collapsed. Coldreach orders. "Get this rubble cleared! Look for survivors and reinforce the ceiling while your at it!" Partway through the operation a guard calls "Countess! You are going to want to se this!" Coldreach comes over and is shocked to see the giant corpse of Rena. She says "How is she...is the path to the cell clear?" "Yes Countess." "Tell Captain Goldstrike to meet me there."
Coldreach enter the remains of Rena's cell. It doesn't take her long to find the broken vial of the holy elixir. Knight Captain Goldstrike arrives as she picks up the label. He asks "Found something?" She shows the label to him. He looks it over says "the label is real." She asks "Anyone ever reach her size before?" He shakes his head "No. The size increase for our female members has always be consistent until this one." "She was altered from birth by a devil magic. Can knights come back?" "Unlikely but it has happened once before." "I want her grave guarded till we know she can't return. Send word to the the capitol as well. They need to know a vial has gone missing from their inventory."
